The Fun Four

Sharing the different Quests I’ve completed has led to lots of questions from people who also want to read, write. and create more, including in ways that can help rebuild attention. So, I’ve put together a flow where I can help you get started, customise them to truly suit you and your schedule, and support you to enjoy and finish your journey.

You can pick one (a 12-week focus). Or it could be epic to stack the four, across the year, spending a quarter on each.
They are highly synergistic! And they work really well woven through a full-on work and home life.

Quest 1: Reading

Based on my 1000 Nights Quest.  This was inspired by Ray Bradbury’s challenge to read a poem, a short story, and an essay a night, for 1000 nights.

You don’t need to do the same combination, and on the same cadence. E.g. You might choose to read 30 articles across 3 themes.

(For those who do want the Bradbury trio, I will happily help you curate your reading list. I have 1000 of each to draw from. 😊)

Quest 2: Observation

Based on my most recent Quest to go to 100 places, and spend 3 pages describing them: I write 2 pages focused on the sights, sounds and smells, then 1 page from a different POV (point of view). It has been wonderfully enlivening

The practice of ‘noticing’ can be customised in so many ways that will give you new ways of looking at and engaging with the world, whether through writing, sketching, painting or other mediums.

For example, 10 places would give you a once-a-week adventure within this period. It’s fun whether you’re staying hyperlocal or taking bigger trips.

UPDATE: April 2026. I’ve created a Super Mini Quest game you can play to get a taste of this.

Quest 3: Conversations

Based on my Quest to interview 52 experts and creators about narrative comedy. What a learning experience!  I’ll help you zoom in on your own area of interest.

We’ll also customise the structure and format. It doesn’t have to be a podcast! We’ll figure out who you want to learn from, why, and in what way. You can expect to have at least 8 new ‘conversations’ within the 12 weeks.

Quest 4: Storytelling

Based on my Quest to write 52 short stories in a year, in under 2h each. (So, they are like quick sketches.) You might choose to try out some short stories. If so, I have lots of fun prompts and structures for you to try.

Or you might select a different medium. You could explore storytelling in blog posts, short videos, or even live. (I trained in theatre, and have a practice as a speaker coach, so there are lots of ways I can support you.)

We’ll figure out the right cadence and structure for you. And if you’ve done the previous Quests, you’ll have stacks of stimuli to draw from!

Practicalities:

Picking one Quest:

  • Each of the Quests can be completed in a 12-week period.
  •  I’ll be your Quest Coach, and all calls and contact will be directly with me.
  • We’ll start with a thorough and fun design phase, and you’ll get your own personalised Quest Kit, to help you shape and complete a Quest that’s perfect for you.
  • You’ll have unlimited e-mail support from me, to ensure that you never have to stay stuck.
  • All prompts, resources and inspiration will be curated specifically for you.
  • The cost for this is $1500 USD or £1125 GBP

Doing the Fun Four:

  • You’ll spend a quarter (12-weeks) on each Quest, and they’ll be stacked throughout the year, in a way that ensures they build on each other. So much growth and momentum!
  • There is an upfront commitment of $4000 USD or £3000 GBP for the four. This is a saving of $2000 USD or £1500 GBP compared to doing them individually.
  • Questing for a year = a truly epic experience. (Ask me how I know. 😊) It’s a great way to create big changes, in a small dose of time each week

‘It challenges the way that I normally think about doing goals, and the process of achieving a goal. It keeps pulling me back to finding a way to enjoy it, which is not my normal default.’  – J.J.
